Extra informatie: Description from the Elvehjem Museum of Art calendar September - November 1980: "Color woodcuts by a 19th century Japanese master, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, are the subject for the Elvehjem's first fall exhibition. Two hundred and fifty prints have been assembled from the largest collection of work by Kuniyoshi at the Museum of Fine Arts in Springfield, Massachusetts, and from Merlin Dailey. Kuniyoshi, the last great master of ukiyo-e ('floating world' pictures), chronicled the lower strata of Japanese society and dealt with all typical subjects for Japanese woodcuts: landscape, theater, history, warriors, caricature, women and children, and creatures in nature."
